Little Sinhala — Privacy Policy

Little Sinhala is a language-learning app for young children. We designed it to protect your child's privacy by collecting nothing at all, rather than by asking you to manage consent for data we would otherwise gather. This policy explains exactly what that means.

The short version

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
There are no accounts and no sign-in.
Everything your child does stays on your device.
Nothing your child does is ever sent to us or to any third party.

Information we collect

None. Little Sinhala does not collect personally identifiable information, device identifiers, location, contacts, photos, or usage analytics. We have no servers that receive data about you or your child, because the app sends none.

Information stored on your device

To make the app work, some information is saved locally in the app's private storage on your device. This never leaves the device and is not accessible to us or anyone else:

Learning progress — which lessons and topics have been completed, XP, streaks, and badges.
Settings — such as playback speed, a daily time limit if you set one, and the parent PIN.
The parent PIN — stored only as a secure, salted hash in the device Keychain. We never store the PIN itself.
Cached lesson content — audio and images the app has downloaded so lessons work offline.

Deleting the app removes all of this local data from your device.

Microphone and speaking practice

Some optional activities let your child practise saying Sinhala words aloud. If you allow microphone access, the recording is compared to an example clip on your device to give a friendly 1-to-3 star rating. The recording is held only in memory for the moment it is scored, is never saved to storage, and never leaves the device. Speaking practice is optional: if you decline microphone access, your child is given a listening or matching activity instead.

No third parties

Little Sinhala contains no advertising networks, no analytics SDKs, and no social media integrations. It does not share any information with third parties, because it does not collect any information to share.

Children's privacy

Little Sinhala is intended for young children and is designed to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws such as the EU's GDPR protections for children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, there is no personal information about a child for us to use, disclose, or retain. Actions that reach outside the app for a child are placed behind a parental gate.

Data retention and deletion

We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side. All on-device data is under your control and is removed when you delete the app.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change — for example, if a future version adds a feature that handles data differently — we will update this policy and revise the date above before that version is released. If a future change would collect personal information, we would first obtain verifiable parental consent as required by law.
